About “Captain Tsubasa”
This football manga was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha) in 1981 by manga artist Yoichi Takahashi. It has gained overwhelming support from readers thanks to its unique characters, including the protagonist Tsubasa Ozora, and its heated matches featuring special moves such as the "Drive shoot" and "Skylab Hurricane". With such influence, it is said to have changed not only the history of manga, but the history of Japanese football itself. It also has many fans overseas, including famous football players. The latest installment, "Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS," is currently being serialized on the website "CAPTAIN TSUBASA WORLD." The comic series has sold over 90 million copies both domestically and overseas.
